Jim beam black label bourbon was originally aged for 8 years on launch but dropped the age statement for the label beginning in 2015 going with the term extra aged. Originally labeled with an 8 year old age statement jb black now comes to us as extra aged. As i mentioned before this is an easy drinking bourbon and would be appropriate as an inexpensive go to for cocktails or mixers.

Jim beam makes great bourbon and it s on display in their small batch series which includes knob creek basil hayden s baker s and booker s based on how jim beam black extra aged is positioned and marketed in beam s portfolio it fills the gap between the inexpensive and basic jim beam white and the company s more expensive and complex small batch bourbons. Jim beam black is a premium bourbon with a more flavorful character made to be sipped and savored. It s those extra years of aging that give jim beam black its full bodied flavor with smooth caramel and warm oak notes. Make every moment a little extra.

Jim beam black extra aged bourbon was a real surprise for me. It was considered a premium edition above the more well known jim beam white label s four years of aging.
